On November 25, 2025, Friends of Jamaica, in partnership with the Rotary Club of Downtown Kingston, delivered a much-needed shipment of maternal and newborn supplies to the Victoria Jubilee Hospital in Kingston, Jamaica.
When Hurricane Melissa struck earlier this year, hospitals across western Jamaica were severely impacted. Many patients, particularly expectant mothers, were transferred to Kingston for care. Victoria Jubilee Hospital, already the largest maternity hospital in the English-speaking Caribbean, faced an immense surge in demand.
With coordination support from Rotary Club Downtown Kingston, FOJ worked alongside Rotary partners to purchase and deliver urgently needed items for patients and families served by the hospital. Supplies were purchased locally and delivered directly to the hospital, where staff expressed deep appreciation for the support during this recovery period.
Supplies Delivered
Thanks to the generosity of FOJ donors and the collaboration with Rotary Club Downtown Kingston, the following items were delivered:
-
1,272 diapers
-
616 sanitary pads
-
118 bars of soap
-
92 articles of clothing (including socks, underwear, and baby clothing)
-
50 deodorant sticks
-
48 wash rags
-
41 packs of baby wipes
This delivery reflects the power of partnership and community-based response in times of need. FOJ is grateful to Rotary Club Downtown Kingston for their collaboration and to everyone who contributed to making this effort possible.
We look forward to continued partnership and shared impact as hurricane recovery work continues across Jamaica.
